Artistic Director, Barry Douglas and Camerata Ireland bring their annual classical music festival to the unique surroundings of the Clandeboye Estate with the theme of folk music’s influence on classical music. International artists will tutor young musicians from throughout Ireland and they can be heard in a special concert.  Lunchtime and evening concerts throughout the extended 10 day Festival.  International concert artists will tutor and perform in the evenings and at lunchtimes in the Chapel.

A fantastic evening of live music, family entertainment and fireworks at Groomsport Harbour
Join us on Saturday 18 August at Groomsport for an evening of live music, family entertainment and a spectacular fireworks finale.  This year’s headline act will be Mack Fleetwood a Fleetwood Mac tribute band supported by Wookalily .The event will be compered by mentalist, magician and musician Joel Mawhinney.  Cockle Row Cottages are open from 11am-8pm with free family fun between 2-4pm.   Funfair open from 4pm (charges apply). Free late night bus departing from Groomsport’s Main Street at 10.30pm and 11pm going to Bangor Bus Station.

Join the Irish Astronomical Association and take a closer look at the sun through their special telescopes. Weather permitting, you may see giant sunspots or even great ejections of superheated gas thrown from the sun’s surface!
Watch a Star Show inside a mobile Stardome, courtesy of Armagh Planetarium and visit a fascinating exhibition of astronomy material, including meteorites.
Star Shows will take place at 2pm, 2.45pm, 3.30pm and 4.15pm.

Watch the intrepid triathletes swim the Narrows of Strangford Lough before undertaking a 21.5km cycle through the beautiful Co Down countryside and a 5km run. Onshore activities will keep the children amused. Start is approximately 12.45 pm (dependent on tides) leaving Strangford.  Welcome them ashore at Portaferry.
